Comments from those who were on the 2019 Grand Canyon Conference

I was awed by the beautiful scenery! I was proud that I accomplished some things that I found to be difficult. I felt surrounded by kindess….fellow participants who I did not know were always willing to patiently give me & my husband a hand

An adventurous, challenging experience! We were surrounded by gorgeous scenery and immense kindness!

— Kate
Our trip has affected me in unspeakably profound and transformational ways. And you have been such a source of support and inspiration for me! I would love an opportunity to sing and play guitar together someday!!

I miss the canyon and river so much.
— Pamela Martell

What changes in patient/client care do you anticipate making as a result of your attendance at this conference? What did you learn that was new or different?

I will make a more conscious effort to incorporate the natural world in my treatment plans for patients.
— Linda
I will emphasize the power and need to connect to nature for both healing and emotional wounds and trauma and facilitate connection to the authentic self.
— Jane Z.
This conference reinforced what I do as an educator, but it also gave me the background knowledge & research to support it. I will be able to go to my principal with this information which will help in school wide practice.
— Mary A.
I work with cancer patients. I want them to know the healing environment of the nature and environment on their psychological health. The impact is clearly there and is important.
— Nina D.

What was your overall impression of this conference? What went well? What could be improved?

This trip was a peak experience! The organization, safety, and care that went into creating this trip made it possible to be open, relaxed yet alert, and fully present in mind, body and spirit.

Rereading the printed syllabus and needs and learning objectives reinforced the didactic material which was helpful. Basically, we were living the theory, practicing and experiencing it. That is the brilliance of your program Adrienne!

Additional comments about the conference

Dear Adrienne, this program was brilliant and I hope the beginning of many more like it! Thank you, you lead us masterfully, kindly and with great friendliness.
Adrienne was so kind to all participants. She was especially sweet to my husband and myself. We were the oldest people on the trip and beginning campers. Her patience, and physical and emotional support enabled us to participate and love this great adventure! We want her to become our 5th daughter!
— Diane M.
I think about our trip all the time. It was so exciting and joyful.
These photos have been so vibrantly illustrative of our wonderful trip…I’ve shown them to many friends.
Half of them want to sign up and go with you next year.:-)
I thought the earth remembered me, she took me back so tenderly, arranging her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds. I slept as never before, a stone on the riverbed, nothing between me and the white fire of the stars but my thoughts, and they floated
light as moths among the branches of the perfect trees. All night I heard the small kingdoms breathing
around me, the insects, and the birds who do their work in the darkness. All night I rose and fell, as if in water, grappling with a luminous doom. By morning I had vanished at least a dozen times into something better.
— Mary Oliver

Has the conference been of value to your personal well-being? If so, how?

Enormously! Being outdoors 24/7 deeply and positively affected my moods and a sense of being in harmony and balance. I will spend more time outdoors and walk more. And buy a cot to sleep outside when the weather permits!

Absolutely! I loved the overall experience!!! I want to bring my family back!!!
— Mary A.
Keep Eric, Zach & Lena for boatmen, they were the best!!!

Bless you Adrianne!! What fun we all had!!!! Your extended family has really impacted Dianne’s life...!! Thanks for let me be a small part of the experience too.
The positive effects of the Canyon journey has inspired me to be outdoors more and pursue Forest Bathing/Therapy training as an adjunct to my work.

I just love being out in the woods.
The presentations were excellent. Adrienne was always well prepared and informative.
This amazing poem was just sent by a friend.
It describes the amazing night’s sleep I experienced which you helped me to understand was a “peak sleep experience.”

Does it ring true for you?

All my best.
