Participants will learn how shame affects people differently, how to identify shame in the context of mental health and healing, and how unhealed trauma and shame impact future generations.

In the context of mental health, there is a direct correlation between unhealed shame and mental illness: depression, eating disorders, addiction, dissociation, and even family violence are all impacted by an undercurrent of shame.

Shame impacts how people form and maintain interpersonal relationships and is often implicit in the context of therapy.

By telling parts of her personal story this presentation will explore different ways to address and work with shame, how to counter shame in therapy, and creative approaches to heal and recover from the impact of shame.
